I have the +2 WoE katana on my mule and was using Blade: Hi all this week testing setups for when my main finishes Kannagi. I read alot of post talking about Hi doing 3k~4k dmg but I'm having a pretty hard time doing under 4k. Most of my Hi's are 5k+ and my mule isnt amazingly geared for Hi. Just threw together some random AGI gear I had on him.

Just a lucky week? Or alot of gimp nins on this thread? I really thought my mule had a complete ***setup and my main will be much much stronger. Was very surprised to see everyone getting such low numbers on this thread.

depends a lot on what you're fighting, if you're doing a lot of level 85 content your numbers will probably be higher than on 90 content.

your mule's gear is pretty good for hi, only really lacking on legs, everything else is fairly minor.

why not Qirmiz Tathlum?

Pretty sure Tathlum will be best. Use Kamome offhand instead of Oirando and Loki's body to stack up the crit power, and get your atk from food instead of equip maybe (thinking about your belt, I use atheling mantle of course but soil belt or agi belt). Testing torque and gorget and I seem to do better with Gorget. I think if you read the entire thread, someone posted the math to show Gorget wins. Blade: Hi so stable for me @ around 5,000 dmg almost everytime. Peaks of 7k~ and valleys of 4k~ but its really consistent with that weak setup I posted a few post back. I wouldnt use Haidate or Hachi pants either. Ambushers kinda hard for me to get because I do most of my stuff alone but I wont settle for any other pants (on my main).

I know you're talking about outside abyssea but I cant think of anything outside of abys thats actually hard to fight. Every event we've done outside abys has been a complete joke since about lvl 85. Outside I'd use Blade: Jin anyway honestly.

I could be wrong though. I just have the +2 WoE version of the Katana and my mule isn't amazing. Once Brhee actually finishes her Kannagi (this weekend I hope) I expect my numbers to go up by alot.

Just started working on my Blade: Hi setup, so far it's pretty decent from stuff I had on hand but needs definate work in the ring area (needs Epona's and +7 AGI ring), I'd like to get Hachiryu Sune-ate but +4 AGI and -1 inventory to me isn't worth what people want for those lol

Nope. You don't even get the attack+ from it.

Blade: Hi definately lol, Blade: Metsu is really inconsistant for a one hit ws that doesn't crit (dmg modifier doesn't proc in ws either) and it's ok outside Abyssea compared to Blade: Jin but it just breaks 1k inside Abyssea and usually does lot less than Blade: Jin XD

Yeah I figured inside Abyssea those boots we're about the same as +1 ninja boots, but I can see where outside they would be a little better.

Yeah you don't get squat by offhanding relic, other than dmg and delay; you used to get stats (no ws though) till they nerfed relic/mythic offhand... which imo is really silly now with magians giving you +20 attack and +9 STR offhand which is more than relics had when they nerfed them; plus the hidden damage modifier only procs around 5% and is hardly noticable anyway, plus Blade: Metsu aftermath is a joke now because it's extremely easy to cap Subtle Blow without where Blade: Hi occasionally deals double damage around 40% I believe (maybe slightly lower) completely blows both the aftermath and hidden damage modifier away and losing para is not a huge deal just need to remember to cast jubaku now... just wish SE would give you the attack offhand only thing worthwhile you lose :P

I could've sworn I read it was higher much higher than that, granted I've only had for a couple days and haven't had a chance to test it much but it seems much higher than 10% to me.

It's like, 40-50% lol..

Anecdotal evidence suggests about 25% for me with 100-199% and 50-60% for 300%.

Nice , i am gearing up my NIN for that but wondering if Hope torque wouldn't be better than Soil Gorget

Hope Torque > Gorget, I don't think there's really any argument. The only difference is that you can get a soil gorget in 3 hours but building a JoH pop and then dealing with the 20% drop rate might take weeks (sorry, never really done it but it looks painfully annoying). If you really wanted to, you could pick the ***out of his build... but more or less I'd say he stopped a good point before stuff gets too expensive / hard to obtain.

Examples: aforementioned hope torque and hachiryu feet.
