What grinds your gears?
The only thing worse than an overused name is a name with the X at the beginning and the end. It's like everywhere, or some combination of xX, oO, or IXI at the beginning and end.

Gimps who cause drama and ***between friends over "nms"
i mean, if u dont even have 18 people in ur ls to kill a mob, why cause drama? not to mention the little things, but people and their stupidity in this game "grinds my gears" Ifrit.Haseyo
Only time I don't mind is when two tanks Nin or /Nin are dual tanking and need to know when each others' shadows are down.
Out of all the annoying emotes for a job, the worst is those Smns. /s "Goddess of the Wind, come to me and assist my friends in battle!" /s "You have done well, return to the heavens from where you came from." Only exception I will make is: /s "I choose you, Carbychu!" Another one, Paladins and Ninjas that do gear swaps that blink and when a healer complains they can't target them they tell them to get the BlinkMeNot plugin, and if they don't play on PC then they tell them to buy a new PC.

The only /p chat macros I use are for Savage Blade after I've used Chain Affinity... Might as well tell the one guy who can actually burst a skillchain that one's happening, or he'll never get another chance for 2 minutes.
Along with what Korpg said, my g/f soloed Roc on Drg but no one seems to believe her even after the screenshot since the typical response is "loldrg". Bahamut.Citag

Korpg said: I believe, although I also say loldrg all the time (mostly to annoy my DRG friends though) I'm guilty of the same thing with certain friends (whether they're Drg or not), but it's hard to shake off the desire to kill someone when they're intentionally doing it to be an *** and your Drg (or someone sitting nearby you) is wearing gear they could only HOPE to wear on any job. Bartimaeus said: Also people who use names like "***" to demean any group of people. Yes you, find some new insults. This annoys me as well. Not because I'm into the whole political-correctness thing? But because it makes no sense. For example, calling someone "HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE" for doing something stupid isn't PC either, but while potentially offensive, at least it makes sense. However calling something "gay" when you mean "stupid" or "lame" doesn't make any sense at all. A lack of intelligence doesn't seem to be the reason some dudes like other dudes. If you're gunna be edgy, or offensive, and non-PC, that's fine, but at least use an insult that makes sense. Otherwise you end up looking like the stupid one. Liela said: It bugs me when people dislike my bow because it's not Euryto's Bow. When you are willing to plop down 3 mil for me for an E-bow, then you can gripe about it! Or when paladins tell me I need a better bow, but then they cannot keep hate off me. That actually amuses me more than annoys me, though. Wooooodum said: Two things: When you're partying with somebody or something else and they're telling you your job, how you should play it, what you should be doing, etcetera... Then you find out they don't have the job levelled or unlocked. This really irritates me. I hate it when people assume that they know so much about the game that they can tell people how to play their jobs when they've never so much as touched them themselves. Part of this comes from levelling (and living on at 75 as my favourite job) Corsair, since next to everyone underestimates Corsair but at the same time thinks they know it inside out; it leads to a lot of resentment on my part because of people thinking they know how the job works when actually they have no idea. Secondly, and this is perhaps my biggest bugbear of all in and out of the game, when people feed you a line of excuses as to why they did something or can't make something when you know full well they're lying to you. Better yet, when you know full well somebody is lying to you and they keep lying. It really infuriates me. When people don't bother showing up to linkshell events multiple times in a row because of reasons you know is nonsense. If people are not happy with the way we run things, I prefer them to be straight with me rather than feed me loads of *** and bull nonsense. At least if they tell me why they can't be bothered I could improve it. So there we have it. Any trolls reading know my weak spots now! But oh well, it always feels good venting about them. Hypnotizd said: You know what really grids my gears? When people are, you know looking for a party and have their flag up. So I send Mr. Looking For Party a tell and they don't respond. What are you too good to respond? Are you AFK? If you are AFK why are you seeking in the first place? And that is what really grinds my gears. Yes, to all of these. They all grind my gears. No, I haven't disappeared, I'm just busy with work. Also, what grinds my gears: People that show up late to a static or event. I mean, seriously, everyone else shows up on time. It's a STATIC, it's not like it's a surprise! You knew it was coming! Then people complain that is takes too long to start... wtf is this? Do they not understand the complexities of organization? Do they not know how much thought goes into an event to make it as easy as possible and not "wing it"? ~Yote Shiva.Artemicion
People that use AOE foods without warning others around them. 99% of these AOE foods are useless as it is.
On a more on-topic note, when I still played FFXI my biggest gripe was a lack of respect for other people's time.
I started playing the game back when it was JP-onry, and Japanese culture is really big on this. One thing you do not do is ever, ever waste another person's time by making them wait for you. Whether 30 minutes or 30 seconds, it doesn't matter. This includes something as major as not having a quest/mission flagged when you join a group to complete it, to something as minor as not bringing oils/powders and demanding someone else wait behind to sneak and invis your cheap, lazy ***. NA players seem to laugh this stuff off as not a big deal, whereas JP players partying with other JP players would rather jump off a bridge than commit such transgressions. Littledarc said: what grinds my gears? when people wont party with certain jobs! (i had a pld not pt because we had a thf) Yay for grabbing a quote from the first page! Anyway, one of the lovelier /seacoms I've seen on Fairy: All I can say is this guy better never apply to any Endgame that I'm a part of. If he's too good to help people of certain job classes get exp, why should these same people be expected to help him get Endgame gear? What happened to us? When I was late, my parents punished me accordingly. It's a sad cultural transposition. We used to be BIG on people never being late and enjoyed liesure when it arrised. I don't make any presumptions, but we may be getting this from our multi-national influences in the US. In a lot of countries (Spain, Mexico, Bahrain, etc.), if it's not work, it's ok to be late. For instance, in Mexico, if I was having a party at 3pm, people wouldn't think of showing up at 3pm unless they want to help set it up. They would mostly show up about 5-6pm. Where as, in Japan, punctuality is a big sign of dedication. They go by the old saying, "if you are 5 min early, you were 10 min late". ~Yote Ifrit.Haseyo
A JP Whm in a past party of mine didn't have Haste or Erase. (Crawlers' Nest mind you.)
So we had the right to throw her off a bridge? D: On that note: When mages do not have spells that are critcal. (Had a Rdm without Refresh in a party once. Boyyyy did that person get removed fast.) Jaerik said: NA players seem to laugh this stuff off as not a big deal, whereas JP players partying with other JP players would rather jump off a bridge than commit such transgressions. Still happens in Japan to this day. I had a date with a Japanese girl just recently, and when she was 30 seconds late, she apoligized the entire date (which was annoying). So yeah, don't be late for dates.....or you will have to apologize the entire date :D Ifrit.Haseyo
Should've made her pay the tab!

Heh, I've partied with quite a few bilingual Japanese players, and each and every one of them was an awesome person. Extremely polite and courteous, made it seem like everyone should be like they are. The one who was late for something was only behind us by about 5 seconds (would've been more if he'd not been wearing crimson cuisses) and attemped to apologize several times. The rest of us had to take 5 minutes to convince him it wasn't that big a deal and he could stop apologizing for the next 3 hours of colibri burning...
Let's see... The other thing that really bugs me is when people can't take one second out of their grind while they have downtime to help you out (specifically Garlaige Citadel when people party at the First Banishing Gate). I know the argument is "Oh bring your own friends, don't rely on a party to get you through", but when you're only looking to get through one gate, calling out 3 others seems like a waste of time to me. =/ Triet said: BLMs(who have Retrace) and shout for retrace in WG/Jeuno. I'm guilty of this and will openly admit to it. If I want to get some quick campaign exp, it is definatly worth my time to shout for a retrace and pay 1k. Otherwise its: Zone into my Mog House Change to BLM/THF Zone out of my Mog House Retrace myself Zone to Southern San d'Oria [S] Flee Make it 3/4 the way to the Mog House Walk the rest of the way Zone into the Mog House Change jobs Zone out of the Mog House Walk all the way back to the Auction House Then warp to wherever I want to battle. Is 1k worth it? You bet your *** it is. When I camp an NM and claim fifty+ times (Quu Domi and Mee Deggi both, 0/51, 0/56), then get outclaimed by someone just appearing, who promptly proclaims "1/1 !!!!!"
When PLD/WAR don't provoke, or when anyone with Provoke vokes off a PL. Jaerik said: On a more on-topic note, when I still played FFXI my biggest gripe was a lack of respect for other people's time. Me being in Germany and in an EST LS is NO FUN sometimes. Einherjar and Dynamis starting past midnight - say Einherjar on Fridays at 2am for example and people have the nerve to show up 30mins late. Please. I don't think I'm exaggerating, and I really hate when people bring the "well this is an EST shell" arguement, but am I asking for too much when I just want people to show up on time? That's just so disrespectful. Shiva.Artemicion
I don't know what it's like on other servers but; being on time to dynamis would be equal to dividing by zero. SE's servers would probably explode along with everyone's heads should anyone arrive on time.
