I'm hispanic and yeah... when I lived down south and was a hell of a lot darker then what I am now I'd get those kind of comments all the time... Now that I'm living in Alaska, I hardly get any sunlight now and it's too friggin cold to be getting a "snow tan" LOL (joke since it's possible to get sun burnt by snow) :( and I don't believe in tanning beds so I got fairly light over the years of living here; people now get surprised when they find out what race I am, it's kinda saddening :(
You shouldn't let those type of comments bother you though, yeah they're annoying as hell but ignorant people will always be ignorant and it's best to ignore them. They won't get the satisfaction

when I was in michigan I always had a hard time finding a job, and when I did, people would always call me spic, and this and that, was really racist down there. so I moved away from there, mostly cuz of the economy.
