LOL I just watched the game spot review and obviously the guy is ghey the way he talks he must of hated 11...all the con's he list are just how any rgp is set up. long story short fuk him he doesn't seem like a credible source meaning he doesn't seem like a guy that plays rpg. On a similar note I've browsed various sites watching game play a few rank qst ect...and I have to say I didn't see this terrible lag that people are talking about. From what i saw i'm very interested in starting to playing in the next week or so. Cap is 50 no one seems even close to that atm so idk how people are just bashing it. lol haters will hate QQers will QQ. People should get lv 50 1st then complain...funny thing is the population on all the servers are increasing day by day and they opening up more servers so...seems like more people are playing this trash game... I was also wondering out of everyone who started 14 who has quit already 0.o

Please tell me what is exactly the same besides standard Final Fantasy lore? You seem to be under the impression this is FFXI-2, which it is not. For me FFXIV is just FFXI-2. Not just the race is the same, but many in game mechanics are also based on FFXI, they're just too similar. Such as menu, maps, controls, macros, auto-translate, job system(or they call it armoury system), TP, crafts, skills, battle system, 3 starting cities to choose from, art styles etc. The core gameplay also seems to be the same so far, besides it's more solo-friendly(making the game more solo-friendly is just an improvement to FFXI, not something new). So far a lot of in game elements of FFXIV is just an improvement to FFXI, instead of something completely new. Giving a new story setting doesn't make this game not FFXI-2 like. Why so many ppl complaining FFXIV has no AH? Because the core gameplay is based on FFXI, but they removed one important feature that makes economy worked in FFXI, so it became a disaster. It tried to be new, but in the end it's all the same. So far I'm pretty happy with FFXIV, it's pretty fun to play, and fixed a lot of flaws I dislike in FFXI(besides AHless/bazaar thing a lot of ppl complained about). But quit FFXI for XIV? No, at least not now. Maybe 2~3 years later but certainly not now. These are very awkwardly phrased in Japanese. Now that the development team is done, is it possible that the patching process was outsourced? It's pretty standard for most "generic" game content (zone designs, textures, videos, character art, models, etc) to be made in China these days. But this might be the first time it's so blatant, at least in JP players' heads. Enternius said: Shiva.Flionheart said: It's not cheaper over here in any of the main stores Take "Horse Bird" for instance -- chosen (so the rumor goes) because there is no phonetic way to write "Chocobo" in Chinese characters, so Horse Bird (馬鳥 - Chinese) was developed/decided on first and then shoehorned straight into JP and EN as an afterthought. Even after JP players complained during beta, and were promised it would be changed. So who are the big wigs at SE that forced FFXIV to be released too early? Square has been doing this same thing with the entire SaGa series since 1992.
Can we just use Yoichi Wada as a scapegoat again? Ragnarok.Afania said: Lakshmi.Hypnotizd said: Have you even played FFXIV? That makes no sense on why is FFXIV the exact FFXI, and of course there's the need of a auto-translate function? how the hell would you comunicate with the other players? a lot of what you said makes no sense. What's wrong with changing classes? idk about you but I wouldn't want to start over everytime I want to play a different class. Offline

It doesn't feel like a new game is what he meant I think, could probably blame it on SE's end for being lazy and unoriginal. All the issues with Cataclysm will be ignored, all the issues with XIV will be magnified
You can replace XIV with any other MMO too. Not sure exactly where you are going to with that WoW expansion it's just unrelated. People quitting a game then going back in for an expansion will mostlikely quit again shortly after anyways. Unless you were unaware of it, Blizzard is working on a new MMO. But again why are you attacking WoW for releasing an expansion? Oh and also that expansion is supposed to reskin all areas to some post apocalyptic theme. I don't know any MMO's that did something that major for an expansion pack. Quote: All the issues with Cataclysm will be ignored, all the issues with XIV will be magnified You can replace XIV with any other MMO too. There has been many uproar in the WoW community about stuff, but usualy they fix it really fast. (Best one I can remember is the zombie event where the game became unplayable and they had a lot of ***press about it) That was one cool thing. I'd be happy if I was a wow player about now, coolest update I've seen an MMO undergo. Sorry to use you guys as my news source, as I've been flying around like crazy on business all week, but any of you gotten much further in the game?
I'm curious if there's really anything to do yet beyond leves and the starting / level 15 quests. (Besides grinding and crafting.) I've done all the rank 20 leves like ten times each and am only rank 16 or 17. Was getting pretty bored when I had to leave. Random personal opinion, I'm really enjoying FFXIV right now despite its massive technical issues, which I hope will be fixed in due time otherwise those little issues will start to wear on me the longer I play.
It was stupid of SE to release so early. It was utterly stupid of them to release without any of the technical expertise from XI (menu layouts, chat log functionality, speed of menus, etc.). Its as if none of the XI team had any technical input to XIV. Hopefully they'll fix these before the game becomes too scarcely populated to warrant any extensive support. The developing for mainly chinese players thing, if true, is a little insulting to us gamers in NA and JP, who've basically driven the video game industry and SE-s business to begin with. What remains to be seen is whether the target audience being chinese players, will it be detrimental to our gaming experience or not? I suspect it could be, like, naming chocobos as horsebirds? Imagine the uproar here in NA if they actually put that little bit in our versions too. EDIT: my highest is r13, so I don't have much experience with higher levels yet. But I'm the kind of person who enjoys just running around zones exploring and taking it in slowly so I've yet to reach that "lack of content" issue above r20 and such. Leviathan.Anbu

The horsebird comment is just lol point is who the hell cares? If there is no words for chocobo in Chinese and they say horsebird big fuking deal come on grow up.... Personal attacks on an internet forum is cute, good for you. If you'd bothered to understand fully, you'd learn from my comment that I said it could go either way, perhaps beneficial, perhaps not, but for starters it seems to be going not-so-good since SE seems willing to buck their strongest traditions to the chinese favor. I'm not against new chinese styles, ideas and themes (I've played dynasty warriors a lot, if you're skeptical). I've also lived in Beijing for 2 years, talk about ignorant, right? What I'm against is SE changing their already established tropes suddenly to pander to chinese players. Also, games made for a chinese audience has potential to be vastly different, compared to japanese games made with western standards and vice versa. Why? Its a communist country. Games made for chinese players are gonna have to abide by the arbitrary government censorship, rules and whatever else they throw at companies. Maybe SE will be smart enough and not let that affect those of us outside china, or maybe they'll just put blanket changes in so we're basically playing a game censored by the chinese government, who knows. You don't play FFXIV man. It's completely different in all aspects. * Menu are similar ? Nope, FFXI menu are more simple. FFXIV's menu seems like an attempt to copy other mmo (for exemple selling an item to npc ... In ffxi you have a mini menu pop, and that's it. In FFXIX you have 3 menu that pops upon selling) * maps ? Wut. A single map of FFXIV (like around gridania) covers about the same space between Jeuno and windurst, including bubu and bibiki. FFXI map are small. * controls ? What everyone and their mother are explaining you that controls are different (see : not able to use arrow keys to move, being forced to hit space bar to chat in LS) * auto translate : ok, so what ? It's a good idea. * job system ? Nope. In FFXI when you get a job you have to keep it for the entire event. In FFXIV you can change whenever you want. * TP ? No. FFXI is 100% TP > WS. In FFXIV TP is not really useful. Keeping punching is almost always the best thing to do .. until your stamina gauge is low and you can unleash WS because waiting for punch to be ready is too long. * craft ? seriously did you play FFXI and FFXIV ? Crafting is a job and it gives you exp and skills. It's actually beneficial money wise (no more power leveling a craft) too. Players are more or less forced to level crafts too for repairing purpose. In FFXI you can play 10 years and be on the top of your game without having leveled any craft. * Battle system ? srsly, did you play ? No auto attack, no party system required to level, no tank, no healers required ( see : FFXI and whm/rdm being aboslutely required for anything), double exp system, no point in killing mobs fast, ability for mage to get as much/ better exp than melees, ability for melees to solo their exp w/o having mages with them, no SJ ***, ability to equip other jobs abilities .... etc. |
