Benchmark is screwy.
I scored 3700 on low with a Q6600 (But I do have a superior GPU)

The benchmark is still garbage. I wouldn't base your ability to run the game off of it period. It said my rig would barely be able to run it, and it runs its perfectly. Not at max settings of course, but damn close to it.

The development system is a mix between IX and XI Blue spell system.

and that u like assign points to stats or something There are two separate forms of "levels." You have your Job Rank, and your Physical level. Both increase independently of each other. Job Rank refers to your proficiency with said weapon/class be it Pugilist/Marauder/Lancer etc. Physical level being self-explanatory. Attribute points are given per physical level, as are elemental resistance points. The nice about it now is that The points aren't shared. Attribute and elemental resistance points are now independent pools. Prior to beta2 they were shared, which kinda sucked.
Skills assigned use a specific amount of ability points that you can use (hence the reference to the Blue Mage system.) I haven't personally looked at how the increase in points progresses (though I would assume it does with increased physical/job rank levels.) My only major gripe though (and this is a massive gripe) is that when you change classes, your current set of abilities aren't kept, or "remembered" in your hotbar. They are erased and you have to reset each additional ability outside your basic attack, which can be extremely tedious later on.

So I guess i'd have to buy a new computer to play ffxiv huh?
Probably cant afford that so I'll be needing to sneak into one of your houses and play it. Leave the key under the rock by the back door please <.<!

No you're not! Your lack of a correcting me on having to buy a new computer says its true, so in order to properly shout whenever i hit the Thunder IV macro (makes it land harder), I'll need to get my own computer lest i wake you up at night, so instead of looking for other people's homes to sneak into we're going to start a marathon, each mile you run you give me $100, just a few more miles and i'll have enough money!

bah i gotta seriously upgrade my comp x.x;
im not that good at comps though... i know ill need a new graphics card, cause its just a ati radeon 200 chip set...
but im not sure if i even need to replace the processor. when i pressed the windows and 'r' button, i was able to see that the processor i have is a... Intel Pentium D cpu 2.80 ghz (2 cpus).
does anyone know if that will work with 14? idk where to check online for it, and id try the comp store but im betting theyre more than likely to just say anything to get me to buy something from out of there.

Ignore what it says about how well it will run. Anything higher than a 500 will still run FFXIV.

SE has confirmed they're working on a new Benchmark for a non alpha build.
Now they just need to fix the archaic and unwieldy UI and FFXIV will actually be ready for a retail launch. ;/

Not at max settings of course, but damn close to it. Yes I'm quoting myself to reiterate the fact that the benchmark is NOT something to go by.
I originally scored an 1872 on the low resolution setting with the following specs:
Intel® Core(tm) i7-720QM @1.6GHz (Boosted to 2.68GHz)
4GB DDR3 RAM (Upgradeable to 8)
ATI Mobility Radeon HD5730 (1GB GDDR3 Video Memory)
The game runs perfectly fine despite the benchmark telling me, by its own score, that my computer would barely be able to run it.
The damn thing is a laptop to boot. Nothing to sneeze at mind you, but a laptop nonetheless.

It would be wise for them to push the date back, if only even by a month or so, to make sure everything is in order. When it comes to an MMO...first impressions are everything unfortunately. :\ It has come a long way in the short time that it has gone from Alpha to Beta stage though.
I'm curious as to when the new benchmark will be released, and why its taken them so long to do so. Hopefully this one will be able to detect multi-core systems, and possibly systems with crossfired GPUs. o-ob
Hi, I'm NOT in the Beta. But that doesn't mean I'm not curious as to how the game mechanics will work, and how various things will work. I previously created 2 threads about various news that those of us not in the Alpha or beta won't know.
I know for some of you who have this information will be pissed because I'm breaking the NDA. But quite frankly I don't care. If there are any players like me out there, you'll be itching to find out information, and I'll try to help with all the info I'm getting from my sources and various websites.
Well after all that, let's get going.
Bazaar system:
A retainer is a character which comes freely with your main. This character can only have one name, and will sit in the marketplace when you are offline, or are otherwise indisposed. I assume all money will be kept on the character. You may pay 100 gil a day to get a proper stall, and you can decorate this to look like a weapon shop, or a craft shop etc.
Ability System:
For those of us who aren't in the Beta, here's a bit of information on the Ability system.
The system seems reminiscent of IX's ability set system, and Seems to have a lot of similarities to BLU magic setting.
Crafting
So the crafting seems to be some sort of mini-game. I know currently, synthing is like XI, but gathering materials when you're a miner or another class, works like a mini-game. Better you do, more resources you get apparently.
Classes:
Along with the standard classes, other classes have been found in the dat files Some of these are:
Musketeer, Fencer, Shepherd, Mystic.
There are more, but I'm having a hard time finding info.
General fluff
Just general little things.
Like
MOUSTACHE TARU
Size difference :o
Real players play Brogadyn
Coolest Miqo'te ever
Clippers sure have changed.
Feel free to let me know if I've missed anything, and I'll be sure to add it to the OP.
