I would REALLY love to get the bastok symbol tattooed somewhere, not sure where. But I have no clue how I'd explain that to whatever gf I have in the future unless she's a gamer too... Which I have never had a gamer girl interested in myself unfortunately... ;___;
There are a few tattoos I'd consider though. I want to get my dad's death date (he's alive lol) with a cross on my right arm. I want a triforce on one of my calves (huge zelda fan). I also want the japanese symbol for 'peace' on my right forearm, not too big or anything.

I've got the original Brotherhood of Steal logo on my left pectoral because of the fact that Fallout was the first video game I played, and I still love it today.

Besides, if a tattoo has some meaningful purpose or place in your mind/heart from some life experience therein, from a video game or otherwise, I see no shame in getting a tattoo of it, as long as it was significant to the receiver's life.
As silly as it sounds, yeah, FFXI has been a somewhat significant part of my life in the lessons I've learned and friendships I have made over the years.

I get a lot of crap from my friends, but I did it a little over a year ago myself.. I got the sandy flag tattoo'd on my leg, lol. Most people who comment on my tattoo just assume it's some kind of familly crest and I just /smile & /nod. Only a couple times ever has an ffxi player seen the tattoo and it struck up some nice conversation :)
Like you had said before.. some of us have spent 7+ years playing this game, so it has a lot of meaning to us... I have seen people tattoo much less relevent things on themselves... so I say go for it :p

I'm probably in the minority, but I think a tattoo of one of the avatars like Odin, Fenrir, or Ifrit would look kinda cool.

There's a guy somewhere around here with a Leviathan tattoo around his shoulders and neck. It's pretty cool looking, wish I could remember his name so I could send you to go pester him til he shows it to you.
I was considering doing a sketch of all the toughest NMs in the game using the layout below. Just replacing the characters with mobs.
