Whatever happened with "not closing an active thread" little "rule" you guys have?
Thread reminder. Trump is a great president, he should be crowned king of America asap, and here is still no evidence of Russian collusion.
In other news, the armed services wont take you of you have ADHD.
Why do we allow such discrimination? Asura.Kingnobody said: » Whatever happened with "not closing an active thread" little "rule" you guys have? This IT guy they caught seems to have an awful lot of seedy connections to prominent progressives.
Ah, the medical issues of 13-14000 transgender soldiers are too expensive.
Even though many of the mental illnesses they suffer overlap with the standard cocktail active duty soldiers walk away with. Also, cosmetic surgery, for any reasom, for spouses and children of soldiers is still covered as well. Seems legit. Thats it! Its Trump's secret plan to bring back the draft!!!!!!

TS's in the Military - interesting.
I can without a doubt tell you the Afghani and Pakistani militaries will be thrilled to hear this. That's an insanely high estimate. It's also only one of about half a dozen not even remotely similar estimates I've seen/heard in the past hour. Offline

In all seriousness I'm gonna throw in my .02 on the military issue, coming from a veteran.
1.) Once you start these hormone replacements and therapies, you cannot just stop them. If you do it throws you into a downward spiral of emotions and mental issues. That being said how is the military supposed to handle this when deployed? Do they make special shipments and supply runs? Do they put more people in danger running these meds to the front lines of battle? Do they stop the fighting or make shorter deployments for transgendered service people? 2.) Look at the suicide numbers for transgendered people! Because people like facts LA times suicide attempt rates 41% suicide attempt rates!?!?!? Is this the mentally stable person we want to train to fight and issue weapons to? I sure as hell wouldn't want someone like that fighting beside me or watching my back. Is simple science people. We are not dealing with the most stable people here and I am not trying to be a *** about it. I love how people can look at the suicide rates among LGBT people and instantly ascribe it to some innate defect of the community and not at all an effect of the constant discrimination, marginalization and blatant bullying by bigoted "patriots" pretending to act in some best interest of society. It really highlights the extreme ignorance and obliviousness required to feel no qualms in treating people so shitty. Remember, it's your fault for internalizing the so-called head of the US saying you're not good enough to even serve your own county, not ours for supporting him.
I really enjoyed Saevels comment about suicide rates post gender reassignment surgery, As if it magically removes years, if not decades of constant abuse snd the depression stemming from it.
That's the same level of psychological insight as "happy thoughts cure depression" people. On the last page of the previous thread, specifically.
I would not matter regardless. The American Psychiatric Association still classifies GID as a mental disorder, thus disqualifying said person for service.

At least for western European based cultures, anyway. Or it could be, you know, a combination of many factors. There's no point in marginalizing the ones that are politically uncomfortable. I don't have a strong opinion on the matter given that I'm a pragmatist and don't give a crap about the feel-goods of it, but sometimes you have to work through actual problems before forcing utopian ideals onto a group whose key purpose is to kill people and break things. Personally I wouldn't have gone as far as Trump given my limited perspective on the topic, but I also would not have ignored the psychological and sociological issues inherent to the topic of transgenders in the military just because that's what we're *supposed* to do. Psychological and sociological issues such as? Have there been incidents? Is there some pattern regarding trans people in the service we should be wary of? If you really want to be pragmatic you would ask if this is actually a current problem. I wouldn't be surprised if "his generals" have no idea what Trump is talking about.
