I love Lakshmi. I actually shifted there to reclaim my original name before I wound down my playing and eventually quit; then I joined TToF and had some of the most fun of my entire FFXI 'career'. Even with most of them gone, it's still my server and I'm proud to be on it.

If I had to move, probably back to Bismarck, since I still know some people there. Ideally Bismarck gets merged into Lakshmi when the merges come, so I can keep my name AND play with them again.


I like being able to switch around a lot, really. If I had to pick one, it's either PLD or RDM, simply for their solo ability.


Excalibur. I've had it for literally ten years. It was the culmination of a lot of work both from me and my linkshell, and I will always be grateful to them for their assistance.


KFC. In the South you can find "The Colonel's Buffet", which is an all you can eat KFC, as if that's a good idea. I think Popeye's stuff is generally better, but all the ones near me are a pain in the *** to get to. I basically don't have either very often anymore, though.

From XI, probably Lillisette. You have the closest on-screen relationship with her, you spend the most time with her (thanks to WotG being 900 hours long), and her character development arc is the strongest. Her sacrifice in WotG is more meaningful than any of the others except for Lion, but you've seen Lion for like fifteen minutes at that point, so it just didn't mean as much.

Out of all the FFs, probably Rosa. It sucks that she gets damselled a couple of times, but that's not really her fault. When she's not catching desert fever or hanging around under a wrecking ball, she's both strong and supportive, while not taking any of Cecil's crap.

I mean, that's the old "needs of the many vs. the needs of the few" question. In a vacuum, assuming I don't know anything about any of the people on either side, I switch it for the single person and yell in their direction, hoping they can get out of the way.

Once details about the people get involved, it's much murkier. "What if that platform full of people is nothing but death row inmates?", etc.

While he is a bit monomaniacal on the central bank bit this is the best presentation he has ever given and I would think thoughtful, well done presentations would be encouraged.

While the thread got a bit derailed, all of them do and there was no flame war. Flame wars being the most common reason threads get locked.

It is neither a mainstream topic, nor are he, his ideas, or the topic itself at all well regraded. Again that is no reason to lock the topic.

For starters, I didn't demain it, I locked it. I try to be pretty clear on what actions I've taken, and someone else demained it before I saw it.

The thread was mostly off-topic and insults. I had a bunch of reports about it, and then seeing a hot mess of a thread that was functionally nothing but DMV commentary and comments about "flowerhead"? Even the commentary that started to be reasonable (the visa piece) was basically unrelated to the OP.

So yes, I locked it. If there is really a call to continue the discussion, I will cheerfully unlock it, but my inspection of it suggested it was going to continue to devolve. I'd suggest just making a new one, since the existing one was already cluttered so badly.
