Good Bye Aselin :(
I was just informed by a friend that sadly our dear friend on the Bismarck server Aselin succumb to his cancer 6 days ago. I received this information through a friend who got it from Evilpickles. Other than this I have no other information or details. I just wished to inform the community about what has happened.

Never good to hear about the passing of another. Particularly when its someone with a common interest. And especially when they pass in such a slow, painful way. I've sat at a family member's side as they faded with cancer so I know what this person's family had to be feeling throughout.
Condolences to his friends, both personal and those online. I will pray for his family. Knew him from way back in the KI days, never knew him personally but he was always great about tech help and the like. RIP
Wow. Great sadness today. Aselin was a great person and friend.
RIP Didn't even know he had cancer.
I've had a close uncle die from cancer last year, so I know the pain of being left behind, so to speak. I've never met this person, but its heart warming to see the community paying their respects.
Just know him because his post last year.
I really hope you could find joy playing this game in the end. Good bye. Much like Josiah, I was tempted to make a thread, but felt one should've been made by a close friend of Aselin's rather than me. I saw him post a quite a few times but wasn't quite familiar with him, that being said he never caused any trouble and seemed like a good guy, I always hate to see a fellow gamer and Final Fantasy fan go.

I don't think I've had the pleasure to meet him even though we were in the same server, but I've never heard anything bad about him and in today's ffxi that is usually only the case with very good guys.
My condolences to his friends and family. Aselin was a nice person and often replied back in friendly posts. He helped me with overcoming ip blocks at school. He was a prime example of a good player that didn't have every item in the game but continued to help others strive for them even when players shunned him of his gear or difficulty of the content. I was just thinking what happened to him the other day. The FFXI community will miss him greatly.
May he rest in peace. I remember spamming NNI with Aselin when i first came back to the game on my elf he was a pretty good player, my thoughts and prayers are with his family RIP buddy you will be missed
-Flipmode R.I.P Aselin :(
RIP Aselin. May your Nidhoggs drop Adaberks and your KBs drop D.Rings
Right before he disappeared from playing he was telling me he was coughing up blood a lot of the time. In recent weeks, I wondered how he was doing and then I got the information today. I was really hoping he would beat it but sometimes it doesn't work out like that. You could never find anything bad to say about Aselin other than he needed to be more positive and not be shy about asking for help.
I second what Hsieh said. He didn't have all the latest gear, always playing catch-up from going 4-5 months of not gaming due to his treatments. That did often lead to him not being invited to stuff because those who didn't know him didn't want to bring along "gimp geared players".
He always helped his friends, and I honestly can't remember a time that he asked for help on anything. Quetzalcoatl.Wigglestyx

He was a great asset to the XI community, very helpful to everyone, R.I.P.
I always enjoyed playing and speaking with him. Sad that such a nice person didn't have a happier life. He deserved a better one.
I hope that everyone who knew him can inhert some of his passion he showed every moment. Have been talking to Ase for years since KI. Was always a helpful person and someone I could talk to when things were not going well. Even made a mule in the server to just BS around from time to time.
You will be missed. R.I.P. Ase Being a long-time friend of Aselin, this was really hard to see.. Enough couldn't be said about how kind this guy was on all levels.
When I first arrived on Bismarck, I was looking for info about the server, so I did a '/sea all' and his name popped up in Dragon's Aery. We talked a lot between then and now. Mostly in the last couple years joking about how we both would play for a little bit then take a break then start playing again. It always seemed we came back at the same time. Best of luck in your new life, Aselin. You will be greatly missed. Offline

It's been said before but was definitely one of the good ones.
RIP Aselin Well that's unexpected.
Sad news, indeed. My heart goes out to his friends and family. I never knew him personally, though he always seemed friendly and willing to give advice. Don't have to know someone to feel sorrow for their passing.
