I'm against deleting pretty much always(unless it's some kind of totallynotavirus link or something..)
Though requesting a lock I think it's fair if the conversation has drifted miles away from the original intent. It should be evaluated though of course, not be auto-accepted. At least I think so. I think people are just really bored today. That and possibly a lot of sexual frustration. Nothing new, really, lol.

A forum thread is the seed for discussion. Always keeping my thread title accurate etc I wish I had a total number of reports I've gotten from within locked threads, but one day I had 21 reports stacked up from someone who read back and was offended by a thread that had been locked for three days. I really don't see how it matters if it's locked or nuked if it's going to be one of the two. I could assume you guys are concerned about post counts..which doesn't drop when a thread is nuked.

It's just an internet forum, not my Ph.D dissertation. I don't care about post count, but if a worthwhile conversation has been had I think it shouldn't just disappear. Discussion often offers learning too, or simply opens new points of view you didn't consider before.
It's my opinion that it is always worth leaving it for others to read. Got to get my Ph.D in Internet Lulz from the University of Phoenix.

Frankly, I don't give a damn about my post count. But if you recieved 21 complaints from a single person on a locked thread, that truly seems to either be a relatively large problem with either the thread, or the person doing the reporting. Probably the latter. So, someone was upset by something that was already taken care of via being tossed in AH's blackhole days after the fact? You volunteered for this? /smile-cringe Must be oodles and caboodles of fun! I don't care about post count, but it feels weird looking through my profile posts and noticing something's missing, like my most recent conversation.
let us summon the freak that does care about post count, so we may relentlessly ridicule him!
