Is it possible with the FFXI Ultimate to install other than on C: Drive?
It doesn't prompt me for where to install it, it just goes to default

This may work but be sure to revert changes afterwards as this changes the default Windows 7 installation drive.

Be sure you do not screw something up and are comfortable editing your registry before you continue!

In the start menu, type: REGEDIT

Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion

Find the line named: ProgramFilesDir

Change the value from this: C:\Program Files
To whatever you want to install to.

If you want all future programs to go into the Program Files directory, you will need to change it back.

Sure didn't work for me... :(

Edit: I mean, they do ask us where we want to actually install FFXI now but not Playonline and the registry changes didn't make it happen.

You could manually change it, but you'd have to reregister your .dll files, more of a pain than it's worth for most people.

lol The Pr0n staying where it is!!
The thing is, my PC is fine.
I do have a bigger drive and that's where I want it to go.
And the only reason I have all those stupid issues right now is cause my Playonline went all buggy for some reason...

You can copy + paste and then run these two files:

Add registry entries: https://pastebin.com/nfyyEK4Q Save as something like ffxi.reg (Need to go in and replace the folder location with your own, and use two \\'s instead of just one)

ffxi.bat file that registers all the DLLs with your system:
https://pastebin.com/RWk51a3g (Put this in the SquareEnix top folder, alongside the FINAL FANTASY XI and PlayOnlineViewer folders). You might need to run this from an admin command prompt. Right clicking and running as admin won't work since it'll try to run it from system32 instead of the folder it's in that way iirc.

If you have DGVoodoo, you'll just need to replace that one .dll in your Windows system folder.

I made the registry entry file, someone else made the .bat but it's been like over a decade since I've had it so I don't remember where it came from.

You can probably just edit the existing registry entries, but here's the .bat file that'll register the DLLs

Symlink the *** and dont worry about things like registry as any software will see it like its still on C while its physical taking space on another driver

I symlinked my gearswap folder to my server this way when i make change to gear swap on one computer its on all the computers

Windower still thinks its a subfolder despite it being located on another computer

I made a symlink GUI for people to move stuff form C: drive to another drive but still have it appears likes it on C: for exactly moving games. works like a charm

This was the solution for me!
