He got 1 year and 4 months for the previous crimes (I assume he did that time) and now 4 years and 6 months

Haven't talked to him since we were about 16 though so I don't know what happened to him after

It counts as rape since she's a minor even though she consented, I'm assuming that's why it's lower. Our sentences are also lower and focus on rehabilitation rather than punishment

Not a comfort in those violent rape cases where women are assaulted while jogging or whatever

We do have life in prison for certain people though, it's 21 max and then it gets extended for a few years at a time since they're still a significant danger to society.

Well, rehabilitation is what you should do with criminals in theory...if it's possible. Otherwise might as well kill them if you don't plan to ever recover that human, they'd only cost you money in a cage with no intention of ever salvaging them...

I understand the emotional problem though. There are many individuals I'd never want to see leave prison.
