KyLouie16 said: » Gear haste caps at 25%. You can go higher than that but it doesn't give you any more benefit. This set is bunzi head = 6% haste, asheera = 4% haste, bunzi gloves = 3% haste, volte legs = 9% haste, volte feet = 3% haste. 6 + 4 + 3 + 9 + 3 = 25% (capped equipment haste). I think he is reffering to the facts that haste is not an exact decimal percentages but rather works in 1024th parts. so there are some rounding errors from what is said in the text and to the real effect. some gear rounds down. some gear rounds up. So you gear might say 25% but you are might currently only be at 252/1024 which is only 24.6. The gear haste caps at 256/1024 which is exactly 25% but you are still short the 14/1024 aka 0.4% off. That why back in the days where most gear rounded down you would aim for 26% in the gear description to be sure you hit the 25% cap This indeed was what I was referring to :)
I'd definitely recommend chirich +1's. The more accuracy the better. Offline
If that's the case then ya I would probably go with 26 also with battlecast gaiters. I was under the assumption though that the rounded up haste issue was something that dealt with older gear. I didn't realize this had been shown to apply to current day gear, although it absolutely could.
I use Gearinfo when I'm building a set to see what haste I'm at. Not sure how accurate it is but it will tell me I'm at 253 (25.3) or 256 (25.6). so I hope it's accurate xD
I'd like to know how much of a difference losing 0.3 haste actually makes though. Offline

Jokes not sure if they're gonna be any good for anything.
You need to test them in the spreadsheet. On a hunch, for Carn based AM3 up builds, I would say "no". But Carns is not the best atm so hardly anybody cares lulz. For the usual Savage blade build it could be good, if anything because of lack of better options in the feet slot. Test it on the spreadsheet and let us know the outcome! No idea how to use the spreadsheet. Mind explaining? Looks like it’s view only to me.
You've never used a FFXI spreasheet before?! D:
Well... I guess there's a first time for everything. Don't worry it's very easy! First of all you need a google account. If you access the spreadsheet page while logged to a google account you'll see an option to make a local copy of that spreadsheet on your google drive. Once you've done, you'll be able to do everything you want in that spreadsheet. Which includes creating new entries in the "Gear lists" ***, for example adding a new line with the stats of your Chironic Feet. Once you've done that you'll be able to select them from the "Gear" sheet and test various things about them. Have fun and let us know your results! Keep in mind that under these circumstances it's gonna be more interesting to see direct comparisons rather than cross-job comparisons. Thanks - those quad attack feet are the highest DPS option for me now according to the spreadsheet.
Telchine legs with the 3 base double attack and 6 store TP augment also seem to come out on top for legs, over other options - zoar subligar etc. Telchine Legs are an often underestimated option but you need to take into consideration the lack of acc/att. Most of the time I'd say it's not a particular issue, but still!
Furthermore, for people who use Reiki Yotai + Eabani the waist slot is locked. For them you usually need a 9% or higher haste piece in the legs slot to reach the haste cap. Not many options here for BRD. Out of my mind atm I can only think of Jokushu Haidate, Volte Legs and Ayanmo+2. Agreed. Accuracy is my main concern with BRD - as I only use Naegling/Cento or Twashtar/Cento combo (Never use Carn for DPS).
This is the set I'm using currently and didn't have an accuracy issue in Sheol C ItemSet 384019 Bunzi's: R25 Linos: 15 Acc/Att, 3Quad Att, 4 Store TP Waist: 20 Dex, 30 Acc, 20 Att, 10 Dual Wield Telchine Legs: 10 Dex, 20 Acc, 6 Store TP (plus the 3 base double att) Chironic Feet Augments: 13 Acc & Att, 3 Quad Att As for Reiki/Eabani combo. I personally think unless you have Volte Tights it's too big a compromise to have to make up the haste with a leg piece with no multi attack or store tp stats. Interestigly the spreadsheet with the above set but swapping the legs for volte tights, and the waste for Reiki Yotai & cape for double attack, keeping the Cessance/Telos gave a slightly higher dps than swapping one of them for Eabani. I generally prefer to test things out in game though. Omen is a good option because it's the same mobs with no competition; albeit relatively low level apart from the Transcended. What's the modern Rudra set looking like? We subbing out Lustratio for r20+ Nyame? I was doing v20 Xevioso and found that even w/ my evisceration set using a Tauret, I'd net 9k-12k's, but Rudras was doing 15-18k. Most guides like Briko's presume you Path A'd your nyame, so I wasn't sure.

Nyame body R25 you lose 17 dex so I keep relic+3 body. ItemSet 383805 Offline

What about Grunfeld Rope? BRD is relatively attack starved, so I'm kind of surprised the Kentarch augment wins out. 5Dex vs 20Atk? I'm presuming Linos is DEX 8, WSD 3, Atk/Acc, and the cape is DEX / WSD. Thanks for the replies guys! I've been trying to max out my WS sets on BRD lately. The next thing I plan to work on is improving my Aeolian set. I'm maxing out at like 13-14k dmg on sweetwaters for example with 3k TP. 8INT 15MAB linos, nyame, Osash, mostly expected stuff. Maybe it's the daggers, as I've been doing Levante dagger + Malevolence... maybe the lack of MDmg on Levante isnt worth and I should just sub the Centovente for better spam. When I get home I'll post some sets for comparison/critique. Asura.Dexprozius said: » What about Grunfeld Rope? Kentarch comes out higher on spreadsheet, but that may not be the case in a low attack situation. I made it but don't feel like it's particularly worth the 12 stacks of hides. Asura.Aburaage

r15 Dominance earring is a really good option for Rudra, since it's pretty much free. DEX+10 Acc+11~15

Multiattack has a very small relevance for Rudra. Then again 2 DEX shouldn't change your world either, but I think it should win for pure DPS (and it's also slightly more acc too!) Heya been wondering since I've not found a good answer, I imagine if I got access to tauret/naegling/gleti's knife but not crep/centovente/twashtar yet, that gleti's knife is the go to offhand?
I'm slowly working on the centovente just thinking it looks to me gleti's the next best option right? Pretty much, yes.
Centovente when you can afford the accuracy loss, Gleti when you can't. Tauret is not bad but it's an inferior option to Gleti and, if you have Gleti, don't bother with R15 Ternion+1 Offline

Quick Question
does a chironic hat with the below augments do well for dd bard ? acc/atk +13 Critical hit rate +1% QuadAtk +3% Comparing to blistering sallat +1 There is a loss in ACC there is a loss in crit rate but there is steep increase in multiattack also 2 Haste loss on Chironic compared to Blistering to take into consideration too
Updated the BRD DPS spreadsheet with R25 augments for all Odyssey items, and a few more minor fixes.
Can find it in the usual place. |
