Just did a bit of last stand testing (ram hack does work) before comp froze up (running on a 6970, issue happens sometimes with the drivers and FF XI, sue me)
With bronze bullet and bedlam +2 on corsair, 603
Oberon's bullet: 1137
WS AGI modded, initial mod seems to be 0%, could be worng. Each merit will take up secondary modifier by 17%. No rolls were on my corsair.
Looks like cor has a good DD ws, and ranger has something that can match jishnu's on a marks ws if merited to 5.

Amazingly, this game allows for one to actually change one's profession almost at will! And if one has multiple jobs, where one of them may not be preferable in a certain situation, one is actually capable of changing their job!
Wow!
If you're talking about a situation in which one only has COR, that's not what's being discussed. We're currently discussing the allotment of weaponskills amongst one with many jobs.
To attempt to preach the rounding out of one job when you have multiple that are capable of doing what you wish to be rounded out even better is just foolish.

Everyone complains about the cookie-cutter builds and here goes a chance to specialize your character as the WS varieties also allow for some classes to use their subweapon more effectively.
Stuff like Archery SAM, Staff MNK, Scythe BST, Gswd WAR, Club BLU etc etc.
I don't find myself agreeing with SEs decisions often but this one is a good thing even if it means I won't be shooting Suzakus from my fists ;;
How is this going to change anything except make you have to choose between 3 weapons only? You wont have anyone using their "sub weapons" sub weapons are by default inferior, and will not be used ever as a legitimate weapon. Cookie-cutter will remain unchanged by this. Only thing this will do is add specialization to job and force you to gimpify other jobs. Which is HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE due to the fact the game has always gave the player the option to switch jobs and still play it to the fullest.
I disagree and while for you it might not change things, there are now options where previously there were none. Funny how quick you've arrived at the conclusion that the weaponskills will 'never be used' and are 'inferior by default' before testing has been done, sets built and compared or new situations analyzed. Same ideas spouted off when Emp WS were introduced and Nyzuls before it.
PLD now boasts a viable club WS and blunt damage at that to pair with its previously wasted A- club skills. If you didn't have Chant du Cygne (inb4 all real PLDs have Almace already), you currently lacked a good WS to make up for it and Realmrazer could be your answer or the new sword WS - the choice is yours. Get both if you're gung-ho about PLD.
SAM has a viable ranged WS, BLU can now also use Club, BST has the ability to use a realistic 2h weapon etc etc.
Specialization is what this game needs. Everyone's running around with an Emp and here comes a decision to specialize your jobs rather than have everything and thus be as interchangeable as manufactured car parts.
I could be wrong but until we see the viability of these new WS, writing them off before anyone has done the tests is foolhardy. Claiming to use a weapon in which you lack a proficiency in skill for a comparatively mediocre weaponskill than empyrean weaponskills is foolhardy. Why use a club and lose aftermath, white damage, and weaponskill damage in exchange for a change of type of damage, when in the end it still would gimp your damage more than using the empyrean?
I'm not going to start breaking out a club and using the club weaponskill for 1k on a skeleton over an ukon because it has a blunt bonus. I'd much rather stick to the 2k white damage hits and over 5k weaponskills. If you have only 1 job leveled that can use only like 3 weapons, great. But that's not what's being discussed.
Because everyone has an Empyrean for the jobs they profess to have right? I don't recall having all my Emp WS unlocked from the start.
Cool story about your Ukon though.
Like I said before, the 3 WS limit gives you options. You can choose to make a class you like more powerful or you can spread around the weaponskills for variety and stick to the currently available weaponskills tied to various aftermaths and call it day.
If you don't have an Emp for the class, these WS just gave you a good reason to pull the classes you like out of obscurity and back into some level of viable play.
Corsair for example is looking at a good WS to pair off with Wildfire which may be powerful but has issues against certain magic resistant mobs. Do I unlock Last Stand and subject myself to not being able to unlock something else? Do I enjoy COR enough to round it out? Here's where the fun decisions and some variety amongst players begins. So you are saying we are limited to 3 jobs<or rather 3 weapons> to be played to its maximum potential? ok long as that is what you are agree with then fine. But i find that HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE, I enjoy playing all my jobs to the best of their abilities, and if i am not doing something to improve said jobs, i am helping someone else do the same, this limiting factor on 3 weapons is dumb and will further hinder my less called upon jobs even further.

As an avid club-wielder, I am very disappointed (so far)... Club's animation looks like the laziest. Hepta-Strike? But now not unique to WHM.
Bah, I'm a jelly taru. All the other weapon animations look cool... ; ;

I'll be getting Sword and Club. Third one would most likely be dagger if it's any good for DNC (and I level it).

I wonder how big of a difference for damage/acc is between
4/5 greatsword and 5/5 greatsword
and so on.. cuz if its really minimal i may just go 4/5 scythe greatsword and polearm and put 1/5 on the ones i just want to play with

But this is still a big downer so far... It's a strange thing to say, but one of the biggest things I love about this game is weapon skills. I think I've been looking forward to "final" weaponskills for a long time, and this (club) just seems very bland. I mean, come on! Even the staff WS looks badass.... but I guess they're getting their dues for junky ones...

Kincard posted this info on bg
Quote: H2H: Shijin Spiral Five-Hit WS, Additional Effect: Plague. TP mods chance of Plague.
Dagger: Exenterator Four-Hit WS, Additional Effect: Accuracy Down. Duration of effect varies with TP.
Sword: Requiescat Five-Hit WS, Non-elemental damage. TP mods Attack (Not sure what it means by this)
Great Sword: Resolution Five-Hit WS, Damage varies with TP.
Axe: Ruinator Four-Hit WS, Accuracy varies with TP.
Great Axe: Upheaval Four-Hit WS, Damage varies with TP.
Scythe: Entropy Four-Hit WS, restores MP based on damage dealt. Damage varies with TP.
Polearm: Stardiver Four-Hit WS, lowers enemy critical hit evasion. Damage varies with TP.
Katana: Blade: Shun Five-Hit WS. TP mods Attack (Same characters as sword)
Great Katana: Tachi: Shoha Two-Hit WS. Damage varies with TP.
Club: Realmrazer Seven-Hit WS. Accuracy varies with TP.
Staff: Shattersoul Four-Hit WS. Lowers enemy magic defense. Chance of effect varies with TP.
Bow: Apex Arrow Triple Damage that ignores defense. Amount ignored varies with TP.
Marksmanship: Last Stand 1-2 Hits, based on ammo remaining. Damage varies with TP.
EDIT: In a Perusal of the JP wiki I've found out the descriptions for the new Sword and Katana WS TP mods have only ever been used before for Iron Tempest and Sturmwind in the JP version. It's exactly what it says on the tin: your attack is modded instead of your F.T.P. In the English version of the game, this distinction is not made and it simply says "Damage varies with TP" for those two weapon skills. It seems that they're taking into consideration that PLD and NIN may have hard times against enemies with high defense and thus made TP mod attack this time instead of F.T.P.
Asked Camate about the video and other ws's and when they will be introduced exactly (for an official response since it hasn't been translated yet by the dev team) and this is what he said:
