I got 88 last night and decided to wait until guild points reset to see what to hand in. Boy am I glad I did that. Off to catch a few Eels before handing a Squid in!
I did that until I hit 90, as the adept fish was better than veteran for like 4 days in a row at the time.

I would stick it out on black sole to npc. They stack so huge inventory saver o; and lube up Zaldon for putting liks/gugs up in him. He'll put out.
Alright, thanks. I can't honestly say I was excited at the prospect of freeing up 200 of my inventory spaces... lol.
Inventory sucks, even when they give us more space it'll still suck. Can't but help cary misc items + fishing in mog sack and "on the go" jobs/weapons in my satchel. Main inventory I can manage to have 70 free slots but never enough ;(
Well I just gave them a try for a bit and the bite rate wasn't too bad. They NPC for a little better too, but the inventory is such a killer... I wonder if I could clear 100 spaces and just make two trips out there, it doesn't take too long with the Gusgen Voidwatch warp or warping to North Gustaberg via Abyssea Grauberg.
I take it you haven't done this quest yet? The oldton warp may be the fastest way to get to the fishing spot there.

Is that the raw bitrate (getting on the hook) or is it how many you got out of the water ?
is the catchrate based on per sardine ball or per line cast (im assuming the later)?
It was hard work, but I have 102 spaces. I fish up 100, warp, NPC, come back. Armored Pisces is working out quite well. I'd estimate they have about a 30-40% bite rate. 989g per fish! They are very easy to fish up too, don't fight an awful lot.
The quickest way there is to warp to Grauberg's Abyssea maw and running to the nearby zone. Takes me 3 minutes. I would recommend this spot as an alternative if you're struggling to get your hands on an Ebisu IF you can muster up enough inventory space to keep the trips out here to a minimum.
I guess all this influx of new fishermen in the last month really killed minnows out, for the first time since I can remember Liks are now more expensive than Gugrus on my server. I don't see a bunch of people selling Gugrus either for them to undercut so low.
Soooo how many committing suicide over Matsya so far? Just hit good ol 0/124 after someone in ls went 1/4.

giant chirai is the current ranking fish and I've been told they will break a Lu Shangs. Can anyone confirm if this is true or not?
i went 0/603 and stopped just leveled smithing anyways tbh with kitron it was still easy.
I went 1/351 I believe. The day I got it, I walked in, handed him one fish and that was it. I couldn't believe it after the months it took. I would save up 80 at a time, then bam! I get it on the first fish that day.

For some reason I remember being worried it could break your Lu but don't think they ever did to me. I'll be honest though it's been years since I attempted to fish them up with a Lu. About 4 years since got Ebisu and I've quit three times since then!
Just remember the Ebisu NPC can fix your Lu for 2x light crystals and 1x Ancient Lumber :) Costs like 5k total on Bahamut. Prices may vary by server.

Bite rate stinks but so far so good, no broken Lu Shangs! A friend of mine is here fishing them as well and has fished over 100 with no breaks. I think it's safe to say they do not break a Lu Shangs.
I just got my Ebisu yesterday (1/350ish gugs and 1/1957 liks...) I am level 92 fishing now. What would be the best place to skill to 110? Should I just ride the boat and catch gugs? Or is there an easier fish to catch out there for the skillups? Thanks in advance!

Holy *** that's a lot of Liks. You're making me feel a little better being 0/803, which is something I didn't think anyone could pull off!
As for fishing, my plan is to move straight on to Haks when I get an Ebisu just because of the money making potential. If not Haks, I was considering skilling off Cave Cherax for awhile then using them to potentially fish up some Matsya. But I prefer the sounds of NPCing for instant profit rather than wrestling with the AH.
