Tiger you should get back to class, stop being so pedantic Great response that didn't even address what I said in the slightest. Is this your way of conceding?
If you stopped being a moron and using solo as a measure of tanking ability, we wouldn't be having this conversation (not to say that mnk can't solo lolwhirlo; that mnk probably just sucked, etc.)

Kylos, I play with a couple really good THFs, one of them and I duo NMs quite often in Abyssea. He is a great tank and has amazing EVA. That being said, when we have more then 2 people going we always bring a NIN and a MNK. The MNK is always our main tank and the NIN only jumps in if the MNK gets killed by like a KO or some ***like that. This was before the MNK even had GH. MNK is just a better tank than any other job for most situations.
Also you're talking about building an EXP PT in Abyssea? What mobs are you fighting that people are seriously having to tank? You should be running through exp mobs in Abyssea as quickly as you can pull them or your DDs are fail.

The bigest weakness that all mages share is mp. Without mp we can't do anything and in Whm case that means no more healing which means the party will shortly wipe without them. Thanks to abyssea with the right atmas you literaly can not run out of mp ever! (if you are your doing it wrong). Which means the job has 0 weaknesses if used by a good player. Forgot to say that whm also has cure V and cure VI. no other job in the game can cast those. Thus the only other healing jobs are stuck with cure IV which in no way can conpare with the higher tier spell thus there is no way a rdm or sch can keep up with a whm in terms of healing the party.

That seems pretty cool, my father has WHM and is using an atma for his MP, and its hard for him to run out of MP, he aint the best whm in the world though as its not one of his main jobs and often i have to ask him for certain spells when im on my thf.
I like the answer to the mnk question, i can see a bit more clearly now with all these new atmas, which unfortunately i aint had the time to get round too yet, has totally boosted mnk, i do have a friend whos main job is MNK, and he has relic and the best player i know on my server, he always told me that MNK can tank even when we were at 75, i believed then that a mnk could possibly tank if your a great player like him, but the average mnk would have some trouble, but i guess now a good player with the right atmas in abyssea could do the job.
Starting to see why some players say the game is not balanced now, although i still cant really believe that drk has always been bad, no one ever complained in my old dynamis ls, when we asked players to level drk and get a zerg weapon just because we wanted to beat Dynamis lord, and players did that too, they purposely levelled drk, i bought myself a mercurial kris, and often we would have 3-5 drks equipped with KCs, Octave clubs, Mercurial kris, or even Republic dagger, so we could beat him, and it worked very well.
I guess drk aint really used much in a zerg type fight anymore, but i still do see a lot of DRKs out there fighting and taking off lots of damage, they have a new scythe (twilight scythe i think) which has a 10% chance of causing death, which is really helpful.
I have played drk in abyssea, and i could keep up with damage, doing some pretty good damage, it is my main job though so i guess im just trying to defend it like i have since i first got it to 75 many years ago. :)

I haven't played with a good DRK in quite some time, and last time I did, he was falling behind the mediocre SAMs due to Gekko being idiot proof.
But that was @ 75.

Thats a nice response, also i said that as a PLD 85 at the moment, i was in an abyssea party, and all i could really do is pull a mob, and just try and get as much hate as i could before the DDs jumped onto my mob, more often then not i would lose hate halfway through it being dead, so i would pull another, its impossible to tank in abyssea party, i feel sorry for paladins.

Seriously, I must ask, how much damage per Gekko were they doing then?
Must have been over 2000 if they beat DRKs.

It's not about damage, it's about frequency and Skill chains.
And probably about 1300 - 1500.

Fair shout honestly, though.
People that rejoined the game or took a break from it during the implementation of abyssea are at a disadvantage since the mechanics and the way things are now done are nearly entirely different.

I would often make my own merit parties, and the average SAM and DRG would have a hard time keeping hate off me, i would go /nin too, and i did a lot of those parties, there were definately occasions where there was no chance i was taking hate, but to any average SAM or DRG i was for sure keeping up with them.
This was back at 75 though.

Yes i guess im feeling that right now, i have no idea what half the people are on about these days, feels like i just started FFXI over again, and im asking, Umm how do i level??? Lol
Still trying to stick to the old school, because the game was alot more fun then, and challenging, some of these kids dont realise just how easy it is now, compared to what it was back in 2004, when we had no such thing as level sync and Artifact gear was considered godly armour

Then no offence, those DRG's and SAM's sucked.
I'm pretty objective in this matter, I played BRD @ merit birds, and I've played with a ton of good DRKs, SAMs and DRGs.
A SAM with a polearm, relevant subjob and eating food would always out DD DRKs and DRGs.
Only job I've seen getting close was WAR occasionally.

Yea i remember a WAR in one of my parties, he was using polearm with his adaman hauberk, and there was no chance i was getting hate, he would start with WS and voke, and i would just fight in awe of that guy.
Yes a number of the sams and drgs did suck, not every single player can be wearing relics and have the latest gear, its not really fair that players would say that drk are completely useless now, because i find parties really well, and im sure we have our uses somewhere in abyssea or other places in the game.

Ohhh i wondered what they were, i have a lot of cruor saved up as i figured i would need to spend it on something good later.
Before i left i was the leader of a very successful dynamis linkshell, a limbus linkshell and a social ls, i decided to leave all of these, the limbus ls died straight away, the dyna ls ran for another month and then died, and i decided to drop my social ls too, although i had been the leader of it since 2004, i just cannot really take the responsibility of having to come online every day to run linkshells.
Therefore im currently part of a 1 man linkshell, a lot of my friends left the game a while ago, and any friends i have left in the game are far too busy to be helping me, so finding out this information on abyssea aint easy for me, often im just having to ask strangers, or i could go into my fathers social linkshell, but i dont really know anyone there except him.
So yes i come onto here to find out what players are doing nowadays, but it seems whenever i come to this forum, all people want to do is argue, and shoot others down for their opinions, so many times in this forum i had to report threads for being too vulgar, i wish this site had more rules to be honest.

Kinda like how you were acting earlier when you really had no idea how much the game had changed, no offense honestly though. You'll begin to see what the rest of us do once you mess around in Abyssea more.
You should really look into Atma and Abyssites on the wiki. On its main Abyssea page there's a section on triggering weaknesses, once you figure out what they do and how they work you'll understand why they're a consideration in job versatility.

There is only 2 things worth saving curor for: 1 keys (the ones that you use to open chests) the best way to level up sub jobs nowadays if to be a "key ***" (the only thing you do in the party is open chests with the keys while everyone else fights) and 2 Primeval Brew (the 2 mil curor item) in case you don't know this item basicly makes it so you can kill anything in abyssea for 3 minutes. (also you can lower the cost of this item by clearing the abyssea storyline to 200k curor)

PLD is worthless everywhere. And tbh it has been for a while.
Even pre Abyssea its use was incredibly limited.

A complex question to say the least, simply because of what we can be talking about, dmg output, soloing, the necessity of having a healer, whats the mob etc...
But, if you had to decide which job would be the best to take to 90 (99, whatever), taking these things into account what would you say comes out with the most pros? For example consider a graph, a questionnaire of scale, 1 -10, one category is DMG output over speicified amount of time, one is the ability to Solo on a scale of 1 - 10 (which would most likely rest on the amount of mobs the job can take on as opposed to which can take on the least)
Of these categories, what job would you say comes out with the most points?
